Our Water Tank Cleaning Processes
At Northern Tank Cleaning, we have two options for water tank cleaning: the “Basic Clean” and the “Full Clean”. This is a comprehensive description of what is involved with each option.
Basic Clean – Ideal for Regular Maintenance
Our Basic Clean is perfect for tanks serviced within the last two years. This process involves
Skimming: Removing floating debris from the water's surface. Most commonly, we find bits of plastic, leaves and insects, and sometimes dead creatures (Definitely get your tank cleaned if something has died in it!).
Vacuuming: Using a specialised vacuum, we extract sediment and organic matter from the tank's bottom, without the need to enter the tank. This uses approximately 2000L of your water.
Inspection: Finally, we can examine your water tank with our expert eyes and recommend any necessary repairs or maintenance.
This service is great for water tanks that have been cleaned recently or don’t have too much sediment. If you're unsure, check in the tank: if you still see parts of the bottom, and the walls look clean, a basic clean is probably the way to go! The “Basic Clean” is priced at $280 (inclusive of GST). Full Clean – Comprehensive Deep Cleaning
For tanks that haven't been cleaned in over two years or contain significant debris, our Full Clean service is recommended. This thorough process includes:
Draining: Emptying the tank. For water conservation, we encourage clients to utilise our inflatable tub to save up to 5000L of water. If your water is tainted, however, we can organise a refill from a local water supplier.
Scrubbing: This is a thorough clean. We remove all the debris and sludge from the bottom of the tank, leaving nothing behind. We scrub the floor and walls, removing slime, stains, and algae.
Repairs & Refilling: Finally, we can check the tank for cracks or issues and provide any necessary repairs while the tank is empty. Lastly, we can refill it with the saved water, or organise a local water provider to help you out if needed.
If your water is contaminated, it’s best to ditch it and get new water, rather than save it and risk your drinking water still being bad, even after a “Full Clean”. In winter, you can wait for rain, in summer, you may need to order water. The Full Clean is the best way to ensure your water supply is safe and tastes great. The “Full Clean” service is priced at $420 (inclusive of GST).
